i am a wordSmith.

why wordSmith?
Creatives are always told they need to be unique, right? Stand out, flip the script, diverge from the pack, insert synonymous buzzword filled phrase here. But have you ever considered attempting to stand out while having the last name Smith? It is literally sitting at the number one spot of the most common last name in America. Go ahead and try to Google me or find me on social media; you can’t.

With a name this common, people actually elect to use it for the purpose of blending in; a pseudonym for hundreds of terrorists and hackers and other great people. At least I can always look up to the captain of the Titanic, Edward John Smith to be a famous beacon of Smith excellence. Or I can enjoy an extremely sour granny Smith apple.

Apart from the anonymity and the plethora of surname sharers, there is still worth my name. Smith originated as an occupational name for a man who works as a specialist in his field. I’d like to think that I am a wordSmith; seeking to fulfill my patronym’s destiny by becoming a specialist in copywriting. Who is gainfully employed.
